Help! I Need Wisdom!

The Bible is full of wisdom. It’s known as the instruction manual on how to live your life. Unfortunately, we live in a world that often contradicts God’s written Word. How do you know which path to take in life when there are so many different ones to choose from? Here are a few helpful steps that will hopefully help you get to where you need to be.

1. Know that God wants to give you the desires of your heart.

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:4‬ ‭ESV‬‬
Sometimes we don’t bother to seek God for His wisdom because we think He doesn’t care. That’s simply not true! We are His children in Christ, and God wants to meet our needs.

2. Commit to HIS way.

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:5‬ ‭ESV‬‬
This is probably the most challenging part of seeking wisdom. We are to commit to the Lord’s way—not our way. Sometimes it’s easier to trust in tangible resources like money, people, or plans. Patience and trust are required in order to receive what God has in store.

3. Worrying leads to taking back control.

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him…Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:7-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Again, patience, patience, PATIENCE. How do we receive patience? We ask for it. The Bible addresses worry ALOT. However, not only are we not supposed to worry, but can lead to sin. It arguably is a sin, in itself because we aren’t trusting God. What do you do when you’re worried? You panic. You try to fix life on your own, and sometimes that leads to poor choices. Patience. Don’t worry. Release control.

4. Recognize and accept Gods plans may not align with your ideals.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As we open and commit ourselves to Gods wisdom, we become willing to accept our circumstances may change into something we didn’t expect. His ways are higher than ours. His thoughts are far more complex than ours. He sees details we cannot. We trust our lives into the hands of the one who created the world.

5. Don’t doubt.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Easier said than done right?! Expect to see God show up. God doesn’t break His promises! If we come to Him, and Him alone, in faith, we will not turn away empty.

I hope this encourages you!

If you’d like to share an experience of a time you needed wisdom and received it, I’d love to hear! Please comment!

Much Love!
